Roman Reigns has opened up about how his bond with the Street Fighter cast differs from life inside WWE.
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s “Front Row” podcast, the World Heavyweight Champion said that the movie group worked together with clear roles and shared respect, much like a college football team.
Reigns said many wrestlers look up to him because he holds the top spot in the business, but he never tried to copy his Street Fighter co-stars, Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji.
Reigns said that the cast understood their purpose, supported one another, and focused on making the best possible film. He added that WWE cannot always offer that same kind of harmony. The OTC said,
“There’s a great camaraderie in wrestling. I mean, being one of the boys is, I can’t even explain it because I’m in the small fraternity. I’m in that 1%. And honestly, that should just be for us. But the difference is, I wasn’t running around thinking I’m Noah [Centineo]. You know what I mean? Like, there’s plenty of dudes in the locker room that are running around thinking they’re Roman Reigns, you know, thinking they’re of my level. It’s crazy. It’s just ridiculous. Like, look in the mirror and look at all your stuff, everything that comes with life. Look at your bank account. All the stuff.”
“We’re not the same, you know what I mean? And I didn’t run around thinking I’m Noah or Andrew [Koji]. No, I’m here to work with them, complement them, make the very best combination, collaboration to create the best film, the best story. So that’s kind of just- there’s no confusion here. We all understand who we are and what we’re trying to do, and we all came together that way in a perfect way; it really was. But in wrestling, it just can’t be had that way.”
Street Fighter, which also features Cody Rhodes, releases on October 16.
Rey Fenix has reacted after falling short in a major championship opportunity on WWE RAW.
Chad Gable defeated him to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and Fenix later admitted that Gable deserved the win that night.
Fenix wrote on Twitter, “It simply wasn’t my night. The best man won, and that was Chad. What is true is that I won’t give up. I would love to face Chad one more time, and I’m ready to play Championship vs. Championship. #ANIMO #MexaKing #YoSoyLucha”
Fenix currently holds the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship and defeated Kit Wilson on WWE Main Event this week.
