WWE SummerSlam 2024 Predictions? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day! Just about closing out our week of focusing on WWE SummerSlam 2024, the show will go down today starting at 4 p.m. ET for the countdown pre-show and 7 p.m. for the actual premium live event.

Before all that transpires, it’s time to get in our predictions for who we think will win each of the matches. Plain and simple.

My question for you today is “What are your predictions for each match at WWE SummerSlam 2024?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

The easiest one to call is that Bron Breakker absolutely has to beat Sami Zayn to win the Intercontinental Championship. Not only do I think he should have won at Money in the Bank, at this point, if he loses again, it’s just to send a message that he’s not worth investing in, and I can’t imagine that being WWE’s goal whatsoever.

Likewise, I think it’s safe to say LA Knight needs to beat Logan Paul. Olympics controversy aside (though that could play into it, too), Knight is at a point where if he doesn’t win the title, after over a year of WWE not giving him a championship despite his popularity, I think fans are going to stop investing in him. It’s happened before. No matter how over someone is, the longer WWE waits, the more likely the crowd wanes, realizing that it’s futile to keep championing them. Paul’s held it long enough. It’s time for Knight to be more than just a catchphrase.

I’m still on the fence about Bayley vs. Nia Jax and the potential of that ending with either of them or Tiffany Stratton holding the WWE Women’s Championship. As previously mentioned in the other day’s QOTD, I don’t think anymore that Stratton is cashing in, due to her Money in the Bank briefcase being wrecked and the new briefcase just debuting. They need time to market that and get some merch sales. That leads me to the conclusion Jax is likely winning the title. Bayley’s had an incredibly bland run that has largely been sidelined. While Jax isn’t going to break new ground with the belt whatsoever, she’ll be a better transition for someone like Charlotte Flair to win the title by the time we get around to Survivor Series, if not sooner. In the meantime, I guess we’ll see Piper Niven and Chelsea Green against Jax and Stratton, since that’s been set up.

I don’t think we’ll see a title change with Rhea Ripley beating Liv Morgan, though. It’s entirely possible, but there are two outcomes I can see leading to Morgan retaining and only one with Ripley regaining the title here. Either Dominik Mysterio turns on Rhea and everything in the past couple weeks has been a ruse to throw her off as he shacks up with Morgan, or the Finn Balor teases leads to him being aligned with Liv. Balor could either outright screw over Ripley, or he could get into some argument ringside with Mysterio to cause a distraction and lead to even more confusion within The Judgment Day to drag this out a little longer. In any case, I’m more confident Morgan retains rather than Ripley wins it back just yet. Give her until Bash in Berlin or Bad Blood and she’ll be champion again.

CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre will undoubtedly end with someone getting on the worse end of something Seth Rollins does. This will be Bret Hart, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels from 1997 all over again, but without a title on the line and no chair shot to the head. As that match (and many in similar fashion) ends with the babyface losing, I think we’ll see McIntyre winning to help further the feud between Rollins and Punk, as that needs to pick up more steam.

I’d be very shocked if Damian Priest retains the World Heavyweight Championship. Not putting it on Gunther, just to have him play into that “lose the first attempt and win on the second chance” booking philosophy WWE has been doing as of late for Bash in Berlin would be an unnecessary stall. Gunther can go into that event with the belt to either fight Priest in a rematch or have a new challenger established—be it Rollins, Sheamus, Ilja Dragunov or whoever. Gunther all the way.

Last, but certainly not least, I’m confident Cody Rhodes will retain the WWE Championship in the main event. I just cannot see Solo Sikoa becoming champion. He’s fine for a challenger right now, but I’d argue WWE hasn’t even done enough to properly set him up for that, even, as we all know he’s a massive level below Roman Reigns and The Rock, and those are the only two people I can picture being next in line for this title. The idea of this match being Bloodline Rules does put the title in more jeopardy, but it also opens up the potential to see someone like Reigns come out to help Cody as the big surprise, instead.
