WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 40 Predictions? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

Let’s keep the pay-per-view predictions train rolling and go with WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 40! Is Goldberg going to lose his last match, or will Gunther lose the World Heavyweight Championship?

My question for you today is “What are your predictions for Saturday Night’s Main Event?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

LA Knight vs Seth Rollins

Ultimately, this doesn’t really matter, just like the McIntyre/Orton match. Nothing is on the line, and it shouldn’t influence anything one way or another. But since LA Knight got the jump on Seth Rollins at the end of Monday Night Raw, and since Rollins is overall the bigger player in the grand scheme of things, as well as the heel in this match, who also has Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed by his side to interfere and cause some chaos, I think it’s a safe bet Rollins walks out with the victory.

Drew McIntyre vs Randy Orton

My theory for SummerSlam is that Cody Rhodes is beating John Cena and winning back the Undisputed WWE Championship. If that does indeed take place, a win here for Drew McIntyre perfectly sets him up to be The American Nightmare’s next challenger to feud with going forward throughout the autumn months. I’d suspect a Rhodes vs. McIntyre storyline could carry them even into WarGames, with Drew joining the Seth Rollins team to fight some contingent of Rhodes, Orton, CM Punk, Jey Uso and Sami Zayn (or LA Knight, or a few other options if they wanted John Cena in there, if he turns babyface).

A win for McIntyre here could also set him up for a match against Cena if Cena turns, too. I can’t see what benefit there is to giving The Viper this win, in comparison.

United States Championship Match: Solo Sikoa (c) vs Jimmy Uso

Soft ball. Uso’s got no shot. Sikoa retains. This is the logical course of action, as Sikoa needs someone to beat and Jimmy’s the perfect man set up to be fed to him.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Gunther (c) vs Goldberg

I see a lot of people thinking that Goldberg is winning this, only to be cashed-in on by Seth Rollins. Frankly, I can’t imagine WWE going in that direction. That sets up more of a possible match for Goldberg to fight Rollins, rather than to go out and just retire.

None of this has played out as well as it could have, but there’s no way to fix that now. I don’t think this match will be any good, and I don’t think it’ll undo all the damage from Goldberg’s previous other final matches, either. Gunther wins and I guess that’s just about it.
