Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
WWE Bash in Berlin will go down today starting at 11 a.m. ET (technically 1 p.m. for the matches themselves to start). So before the premium live event takes place, let’s reflect on the card and toss out our final round of predictions for every match announced to take place!
My question for you today is “Who do you think will win at WWE Bash in Berlin?”
Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.
As far as my answers…
Tag Team Match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: The Unholy Union (c) (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn) vs. Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill
Spoiler alert, but this is the only title that is going to change hands. My guess is WWE never really wanted to move on from Belair and Cargill as a tag team when they dropped the titles, and they were just stalling for time while putting it on Fyre and Dawn to get the Clash at the Castle pop. That, or maybe they decided after the fact that it was too early to split them, and rather than spark a feud too fast with nothing for either to do at WrestleMania, they’d wait until closer to the end of 2024 or into 2025 before they drop the titles. Then again, maybe the plan is to keep the belts on them to the point that they defend them at WrestleMania 41, even.
For any of that to happen, though, the titles have to change hands here. Had The Unholy Union gotten a single proper victory over Belair and Cargill, I’d think there was a chance they’d retain, but it’s clear they are being positioned as the lesser team despite having the gold.
Mixed Tag Team Match: The Terror Twins (Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley) vs. The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio & Liv Morgan)
Realistically, either team could win this and it wouldn’t change much of the trajectory.
If the heels come out on top, it will likely be due to interference from Finn Balor, JD McDonagh and Carlito, to further prompt a future match (likely at Bad Blood) between Priest and Balor. I could see Ripley having her legs held down by Dom without the referee noticing or something, too. It will still end up heading toward Ripley challenging Morgan for the Women’s World Championship one way or another.
However, a simpler way to go about this would be to just give the win to The Terror Twins. Ripley does something to take out Dom, who gets pinned by Priest. She gets a measure of revenge, while Morgan doesn’t get pinned, setting up the need for a title shot as she does still have a victory over the champion, albeit in a tag team format.
Flip a coin. I’ll go with the babyfaces winning.
Strap Match: CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre
This is another match that could theoretically go either way, and they’ll still fight inside Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood.
My gut tells me Punk is winning this, though. McIntyre got the first one, so if Punk wins this, they’re tied up and the need for a rubber match becomes clearer, rather than it being 2-0 with Punk just continuing to be upset.
A loss here doesn’t hurt McIntyre, either, considering the logistics of the match. This won’t have a pinfall or submission. Punk will win by just touching the turnbuckles. McIntyre can look at that and say “You can’t beat me properly, though.”
Watch out for the typical strap match ending here, where McIntyre will be dragging Punk around to touch the turnbuckles, not realizing that Punk is doing the same behind him. Then, when it gets to the last one, Punk will do something to slingshot himself past McIntyre, touch it first, and get the win on a steal.
Singles Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Randy Orton
Will this be a modern day Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat versus Ric Flair? Based on their match at King & Queen of the Ring, I don’t necessarily think so. But it makes sense they’re doing this, as that had a faulty finish, Orton is a big name for Gunther to beat (and he deserves to get a more legitimate win over him) and Orton isn’t busy doing anything else at the moment, so I’m down for it.
It will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to this match. Will Gunther get cheered for being Austrian? Is he going to be booed because he’s a heel and this is The Viper we’re talking about?
One way or another, I think the outcome points squarely in Gunther’s direction. I cannot, under any circumstances, imagine The Ring General is losing the title this quickly, and at this pay-per-view, of all places. That would be one of the biggest shocks of the year for me.
Singles Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens
Obviously, Cody Rhodes is going to retain. I don’t think anyone questions that. The real conundrum is trying to predict whether Owens is going to turn heel off the back of this or not, and if so, if it will happen at the pay-per-view, or on the following SmackDown.
At the moment, I think we’re going to see Owens disappointed after losing, but not freak out just yet. Maybe he walks off, huffing and puffing, rather than shaking Cody’s hand, or something along those lines. Then, he turns on SmackDown, setting up another match at Bad Blood, as I don’t think anyone else is lined up to get a shot at the WWE Championship so quickly as to move on entirely from Owens.
What do you think? Drop your thoughts below!
