MJF: I Don’t Know Why People Pretend NJPW Is Important

AEW star MJF has ruled out appearing for New Japan Pro Wrestling, no matter how much the Japanese promotion is willing to pay.

MJF returned to AEW programming following a three-month absence at AEW All Out 2022, winning the Casino Ladder match.

AEW has a working relationship with NJPW, as fans saw with the successful AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door event earlier this year.

Speaking to Barstool Rasslin, MJF had harsh words for the promotion when addressing his future.

I am going to go to the highest bidder, could be anybody, as long as it’s not New Japan. F***ing hate New Japan. It’s literally, I don’t understand how people still pretend it’s a company that’s like, important.

“It’s wild to me. They could pay me a billion dollars, I won’t go.”

MJF’s current deal with AEW will expire on January 1, 2024 and he has teased leaving for WWE.

The Salt of the Earth recently negotiated a new deal with AEW that won’t extend his contract length, which is reportedly earning MJF over a million dollars per year.
