Kenny Omega Is Your New AEW World Champion

Kenny Omega is once again at the top of All Elite Wrestling.

The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite featured one of the most anticipated television matches in company history, as AEW World Champion MJF defended his title against Omega. The bout carried enormous stakes for “The Best Bout Machine,” who entered knowing that a defeat would permanently end his chances of challenging for the AEW World Championship again.

The closing moments were filled with drama. MJF attempted to turn the tide with his trademark Dynamite Diamond Ring, but Will Ospreay sprinted to ringside and snatched it away before Friedman could use it. Omega then found himself holding the championship belt and had the chance to strike MJF with it, but chose not to.

That hesitation nearly cost him everything.

MJF capitalized with a low blow before smashing Omega with the title belt. Despite the illegal attack, Omega stunned the crowd by kicking out at the count of one.

The challenger quickly recovered and mounted one final comeback, blasting MJF with three consecutive V-Triggers before delivering the One Winged Angel to score the decisive three-count and become the new AEW World Champion.

The loss ends MJF’s third AEW World Championship reign after 46 days. He regained the title from Darby Allin at AEW Double or Nothing in May, but Omega’s victory brings that run to an emphatic end while restoring one of AEW’s founding stars to the top of the company.
