WWE’s push into the Mexican wrestling scene is gaining momentum, and the effects are already being felt inside AAA.

According to a report from Fightful Select, a growing number of wrestlers — especially those without full-time contracts — are uncertain about their future as WWE increases its presence in the region. WWE has reportedly dispatched agents to recent AAA tapings to evaluate the promotion’s inner workings and report back. Jeremy Borash has been a key figure in these efforts, directly engaging with several AAA talents.

One insider noted that the changing landscape has already disrupted AAA’s internal hierarchy, suggesting that some high-ranking personnel have seen their influence diminished.

Tensions have also been stirred by the timing of a high-profile match between El Hijo del Vikingo and Alberto Del Rio (Alberto El Patron), scheduled just one week before the NXT x AAA: Worlds Collide pay-per-view event on June 7. While Del Rio is not officially confirmed for the show, multiple sources believe the timing is far from accidental. One source stated, “Even if Del Rio sticks around, he’s almost certainly dropping the title.” Vikingo, on the other hand, is expected to play a major role in the WWE-AAA alliance and featured prominently in the event’s official announcement.

Additionally, AEW talent will no longer appear at AAA events. While AEW’s involvement had already been limited in recent months, the move formally ends their working relationship. Jeff Jarrett was the last notable AEW figure to appear in AAA.

On the other hand, TNA talent is confirmed to be part of Worlds Collide. The current plan calls for a cross-promotional card featuring stars from WWE, NXT, AAA, and TNA, in what’s being described as a “Forbidden Door”-style showcase.
