During a recent edition of his podcast, AJ Styles opened up about his deep passion for wrestling.
The WWE Hall of Famer explained how storylines always follow a simple structure, even when details shift around it.
Styles also discussed helping produce the Kendal Grey vs. Lola Vice Underground match on WWE NXT, praising both women’s incredible skills and real martial arts background.
The WWE Hall of Famer also joked about keeping his long hair rather than dealing with frequent haircuts.

On how his mind works when it comes to wrestling: “I’m invested in every part of wrestling that you possibly could think of. Like I have, you know, it’s not what you think. It’s that sometimes it is as clear as an A B C when going through a match. And those that A and that B will change based on the story, but you’re still going to go B C. We’re like, everything changes, and I know that I’m speaking Japanese if you unless you know Japanese, but like it changes based on the storyline, but at the core of it, everything that we know that’s always worked is ABC.”
On if he plans to cut his long hair: “You know, I thought about, like, I’m going to cut it when I’m done. There’s no reason to have long hair. But then I was like, ‘Well, what do I do with it?’ And also when you cut your hair short, as you know, every two weeks you got to go in for a haircut. If you got long hair, you don’t. [On going back to his 06 haircut] I don’t think — he looks — I don’t know. I don’t know. He kind of looks dumb to me. So I like, I can’t lose the beard at this point. I would look really dumb.”
On his involvement in Lola Vice vs. Kendal Grey: “Yeah, there were two of us that — two producers in that match, [Johnny] Moss and myself. And listen, there’s not much you need to do in a match like this because these girls are so good. But if you watch it, there are some sprinkles of AJ Styles in there that you’ll go, “Oh yeah, that makes sense.” But the truth is, Moss and I didn’t have to do very much because they are so good at what they do. Both these girls you like Kendall’s not just a wrestler, by the way. She took all kinds of mixed martial arts, and you can tell once she starts throwing punches you’re like, ‘Wait a second,’ you know, and then Lola is the same MMA, like she can throw, and her kicks are just freaking awesome. Like when you see them you go, ‘Hold on a second. That doesn’t look fake at all.’ You know, like just the way they do certain things is just unbelievable. And this match that they had, whoever came up with it and put them in it, perfect. It was perfect. They’re so good.”
Baron Corbin says returning to WWE required a complete reset after his time away.
The 41-year-old wrestler returned on the July 10 episode of SmackDown and immediately captured the United States Championship in his first match back at SummerSlam 2026.
During a recent appearance on “WWE Now,” Corbin explained that he spent his time off sharpening his skills through jiu-jitsu while clearing away distractions in his life. In the process, he rediscovered the aggressive Lone Wolf mentality that once brought him his biggest wins, including Money In The Bank.

On his emotions around his return: “Yeah I mean, it’s been a crazy day. This is what I’ve done for a long time, right? Like 14, 15 years now total. And today felt like my first day, like it was weird. The air, the excitement, the nerves. At one point I was like, you know, our producer was talking to us and I was like, ‘I need a minute to go drink some water because I feel like I’m going to vomit.’ Just that, because like the — it’s so amazing to get back and get another chance. And you go, ‘Alright, well, I only have so many years of an opportunity left,’ right?”
On his goal when he went to the indies: “So it’s just like the excitement, getting back and going, ‘Alright, I need to reset everything everyone thinks about me.’ And I had that year and a half away where I think they forgot about a lot of it. And it’s like, ‘Alright, I’m coming back.’ My time off, I was busy killing people in jujitsu, choking them, snapping arms, taking heads, whatever it was. Doing some more, like really sharpening my skills for physicality to get back to what I do, and what I did originally when I came in as a Lone Wolf.
“It was like, ‘No friends. I’m whooping everybody’s ass that gets in my way.’ And that’s where I found the most success, right? I mean, that’s where I had a US championship. That’s where I won the Andre. Like that’s where I won Money in the Bank was that attitude. I’m going, ‘I got to go find that.’ And that year and a half away, I was able to find that, able to figure it out. Weed out all the s**t in my life that I didn’t need. Forget the cars, forget the whatever it is. And it’s like, ‘What do I do best? I fight. That’s what I do.’”
On his attitude now that he’s back: “And so it’s like, when I got the call to potentially come back, I was going, ‘Alright, I’m gonna hurt everybody they set in front of me. Every single person. Good guy, bad guy, friend, foe. Doesn’t matter. I’m gonna hurt him.’ And I mean, we chatted for that BloodSport. It’s like, ‘This is what I’m good at. I’m good at just fighting.’ And so I weeded out all that other stuff and I came back on a mission. In three weeks, I accomplished this at SummerSlam in front of 40,000 people.”

During a recent appearance on “The Rival Room Sports Podcast,” the WWE Hall of Famer picked Ricky Steamboat as his top rival, praising their natural chemistry inside the ring.
Roberts also brought up his unforgettable moment with Randy Savage, admitting that the cobra bite still amuses him today.

On his favorite opponent: “Well, it’s a two-edged sword there. I kind of like the Macho Man thing because that’s my favorite moment, that snake biting him. That just tickled the hell out of me. But my favorite opponent would probably be Ricky Steamboat. Yeah, we just had great chemistry together. It was like a chess match in the ring. It was a lot of fun for me.”
On his favorite snake to work with: “Oh, easy. Hands down, the cobra. Hell yeah, that’s the one that bit Macho Man. And I had a lot of fun with that snake. He was impressive.”
