Report – WWE’s Worlds Collide Delay Was Never About PAC

WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event didn’t air live, and a new report reveals that the commentary was recorded days after the show took place.

Fightful is reporting that the commentary for Worlds Collide was recorded on Monday or Tuesday, with WWE internally knowing since August that the show wouldn’t be called live. That means the pre-taped approach had nothing to do with PAC’s death or the later scheduling conflict.

JBL had previously said on his podcast that the announcers would not be brought in for a live call, despite initially agreeing to attend the event.

The show took place on Saturday, September 26, but didn’t premiere on YouTube until Wednesday, September 30. By then, spoilers had already spread online, removing the urgency to watch live that usually makes a supercard feel special.

No one could have predicted PAC’s tragic death or AEW’s subsequent Wednesday tribute show, which turned Worlds Collide into competition with a memorial for a beloved athlete. WWE seemingly gave little thought to that overlap when setting the air date.

The commentary recording schedule was set well in advance, with WWE treating the show as a pre-taped product rather than a live broadcast from the start.
