WWE is reportedly moving forward with plans for the John Cena Classic. The special event was first announced by Cena at Backlash earlier this year.
While the company has yet to officially confirm the venue, broadcast platform, match format, or participants, the project is expected to feature stars from both the main roster and NXT.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is currently targeting December 12, 2026, for the John Cena Classic.
That date is notable since Wrestlepalooza: Perth is also scheduled for the same day at RAC Arena in Australia, following SmackDown on December 11 and ahead of RAW on December 14.
WWE has not confirmed whether the John Cena Classic special will be part of Wrestlepalooza, run separately, or stream on Netflix or another platform.
Reports have also suggested that younger talent could receive a major spotlight, with fans possibly playing a role in deciding who becomes champion.
