One wrestler has officially stepped away, but another may still have more left to do.
AJ Lee has not appeared on WWE programming since WrestleMania 42, but according to sources, there is a belief that she has not wrestled her final match.
Given AJ Lee’s long history with Paige, speculation naturally followed that the two could eventually become involved in a storyline with the Bella Twins. That possibility gained traction after Brie Bella and Nikki Bella attacked Paige at SummerSlam. However, Brie suffered an injury that has taken her out of action.
Despite the speculation surrounding AJ, Fightful Select is reporting that members of WWE’s creative team say they have not heard of any plans for her to be involved in the storyline. In fact, the talent involved reportedly had not been informed of the direction of the angle by the time Brie was injured.
For now, Paige and Nikki Bella remain involved in their ongoing storyline, while AJ Lee’s WWE future remains uncertain. Still, the latest report suggests that retirement may not be the end of the road for AJ just yet.
