WWE To Introduce “Sports-Centric” Themes On TV Going Forward

WWE intends to introduce a new level of seriousness to its programming, with sports-centric themes already being incorporated.

Pwinsider reports that this week has seen talks at WWE’s HQ in Stamford as to how WWE can share a sense of realism typically found in more legitimate sports shows. The report states,

“We are told that the talk at Raw yesterday and at WWE HQ today is that the company will be incorporating some sports-centric elements into the programming. Cody Rhodes being interviewed on Raw “earlier today” complete with the clock listing the time was an example given of trying to root the product in stronger realism. We are told that interviews will reflect this as well.”

WWE’s production has already seen changes, with certain segments being set in more public settings, such as the Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate segment in a coffee shop.

Many have attributed this change to the departure of Kevin Dunn. The former WWE executive who’d been with WWE from before WrestleMania 1 departed last month.
