WWE Once Again Snubs Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) On RAW

WWE appears to have deliberately omitted one of the most memorable moments in Shield history during its latest SummerSlam 2026 hype package.

The company is continuing to build anticipation for the World Heavyweight Championship clash between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2026. With their rivalry dating back more than a decade to their days in The Shield, WWE has been revisiting several defining moments from their shared history.

During this week’s episode of RAW, WWE aired a video package chronicling the 12-year rivalry between Reigns and Rollins. Among the featured moments was their WWE Championship match at the 2016 Money in the Bank pay-per-view event.

The footage showed Rollins defeating Reigns after countering a Spear with a Pedigree to regain the WWE Championship. However, the package ended there, leaving out what happened immediately afterward.

Following Rollins’ victory in 2016, Dean Ambrose—now known as Jon Moxley in AEW—cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and defeated Rollins to capture the WWE Championship. That historic cash-in resulted in all three members of The Shield holding the WWE Championship within the span of just a few minutes, creating one of the faction’s most iconic moments.

The omission has sparked speculation among fans, with some believing that WWE intentionally excluded the sequence because Moxley is currently signed with AEW. While the company has occasionally referenced former stars who now wrestle elsewhere, it chose not to include Ambrose’s championship-winning cash-in in this retrospective.
