WWE introduced a new “Referee Cam” at Saturday night’s SummerSlam 2024 pay-per-view event.

The company explained that the Referee Cam is a small camera positioned on the referee’s ear, which will now allow fans to see the match from their perspective. The camera made its debut during the match between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley, which resulted in Morgan defeating Ripley to retain her title after Dominik Mysterio turned on his Mami.

As of this writing, there is no word on how often WWE will be using the camera going forward, or whether it’ll only be featured at pay-per-view events.

WCW previously used the “Refer-Eye cam” in the early 1990s.
