The BBC is reporting that WWE’s Clash At The Castle 2022 pay-per-view event generated £21.8 million ($27,118,328 US) for the economy in Wales last year. The event emanated from Principality Stadium in Cardiff on September 3 and had an attendance of 62,296.

Around 75% of fans actually traveled to Wales from abroad. Upon questioning over 3,000 people, 57% of non-locals stated that the WWE event made them want to explore Wales.

Welsh Rugby Union Interim CEO Nigel Walker said,

“[Cardiff] stepped up to the challenge. Clash at the Castle had a global audience of millions, and with all eyes on Principality Stadium, we showcased what a magnificent venue we have here in Cardiff.”

Wales’ economy minister Vaughan Gething added,

In addition to the direct economic impact the event delivered here in Wales, it provided us with a huge boost to our profile internationally. This included opportunities to showcase Wales’ vibrant language and culture through bespoke content creation shared globally on WWE’s social media channels.”

In other news, Goldberg recently expressed his frustration with WWE for not offering him a retirement match as they had verbally agreed to. Goldberg also stated that he is considering his own retirement tour. The WWE Hall of Famer said,

“So, if I go on a world tour and promote it myself, that’s a possibility. Hey, I’m a businessman and I’m fortunately in the position, I firmly believe, to where I can still make it happen. At the end of the day, like I said, I do believe that my character deserves a proper send-off and until that happens, I don’t believe I’m hanging them up. So, anything and everything is an option. I’m very much leaning toward promoting it myself and doing a four city world tour.”

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that a wrestling promoter in Israel named Gary Roif wants to bring Goldberg into the country. Whether or not the WCW legend agrees with the offer, or if it would be his last match, is unclear.

Tony Khan reportedly wants AEW to sign Goldberg, however, the big paycheck the former Universal Champion was earning in WWE wouldn’t be cost-effective.
