Our first official match for the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event has been announced (ignoring the obvious men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches themselves, naturally).
To close out the final episode of Friday Night SmackDown for 2024, Kevin Owens was in the ring with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who was looking to get back the Winged Eagle belt Owens had stolen from Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Long story short, The American Nightmare angrily stormed to the ring and demanded a ladder match for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble so that there would be no referee interference in their match, as the winner has to definitively climb the ladder and retrieve the title.

That brings the current lineup for WWE Royal Rumble 2025 to the following:

- Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens
