The Pitch Black match has been discussed for a while at the WWE Royal Rumble.
WrestlingNews.co was the first to report the match had been pitched with the belief that it would be used for Bray Wyatt in his first-ever bout since making a return to WWE.
A new Mountain Dew advertisement confirmed the Pitch Black match at the Royal Rumble. The video shows a WWE arena going black before the text appearing “When It’s The Pitch Black Match” later touting it as “Anything Can Happen.”
The footage also features someone walking with bright light emerging from behind, appearing to be Edge.
WWE has also discussed doing a Hell in a Cell match at the event, potentially between ‘Demon’ Finn Balor and ‘Brood’ Edge.
