Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

On tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, three different title bouts are scheduled to go down. Tiffany Stratton will defend the Women’s United States Championship against Jacy Jayne, Baron Corbin puts the men’s US title on the line against Carmelo Hayes, and Wepa Up (Damian Priest and R-Truth) are in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Tag Team Championship versus both the War Raiders and the MFTs.

My question for you today is “Do you think any new champions will be crowned on Friday Night SmackDown?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

Statistically, at least one title is going to change hands, if not two, but I think it is extremely unlikely all three matches lead to new champions.

Baron Corbin is the lock for me. I don’t think WWE put the belt on him at SummerSlam just so he could beat Trick Williams another time and then lose it right afterward to Carmelo Hayes. My guess is Corbin beating Melo in his surrogate home town is to generate heat for Corbin.

With Tiffany Stratton, I’m not sure. Jacy can very well win the title and I wouldn’t be shocked. That is especially true if Tiffany factors into how WWE delays doing anything with Chelsea Green while she’s recovering from her orbital bone injury. But Blake Monroe has had her eyes set on this title, and she strikes me as a more likely option than Jayne winning and Fatal Influence having all the gold, effectively.

I do think the MFTs stand an extremely high chance at winning the tag team titles, and it really all depends on if this is a means for Shinsuke Nakamura and his new partner to interfere or not. If that’s the plan, then it’s still a coin flip, as WWE could have Talla Tonga and Tama Tonga win the titles and then get attacked, rather than Nakamura + TBD costing them an opportunity.

If I had money on anything, I’d be more comfortable betting on the MFTs walking out with gold rather than any other titles changing hands, but I could see this also being a 2-out-of-3 scenario and wouldn’t be utterly flabbergasted. If Corbin also loses, THAT will shock me.

What do you think? Drop your thoughts below!
