Who Will/Should Win The TBS Title Survival Of The Fittest? | Question Of The Day

Tonight on AEW Dynamite, there will be a Survival of the Fittest elimination match to crown the new title-holder for the AEW TBS Championship, vacated by Willow Nightingale. Maika, Harley Cameron, Hikaru Shida, Persephone, Kris Statlander, and Queen Aminata are vying for the belt, so my question for you today is “Who do you think will and/or should win this title tonight?”

As far as my answer…

When it comes to the should/will dynamic, I’m thinking those two are going to overlap—at least for my own personal tastes for a preference of a winner. Your mileage may vary.

First off, just to get them out of the way, I don’t see an argument for Maika or Persephone. They’re not truly on the roster, and I think that would be a mistake that Tony Khan isn’t going to make.

I don’t think Harley Cameron is going to get the belt, nor do I think she should. She COULD and I wouldn’t be opposed to it, but she’s a comedic character and I don’t think having her win the belt will amount to much. Maybe I’m wrong, and I would hope that I would be if she does, but I also think there are just three stronger candidates right now in Shida, Statlander, and Aminata.

Statlander’s the pick if you’re just trying to revert to an anchor. Shida’s the pick if you want to put the belt on someone who you’re likely never going to give the world title to again, based on how she’s been utilized over the past few years. Aminata’s the pick if you want to give her a push and see what her ceiling is.

I think TK is going to go with Aminata, and while she wouldn’t necessarily be my top choice on the whole roster, if I’m given the options who are in this match, she’d be my preference, and I honestly don’t think anyone else is an obvious alternative option, either (IE, Aminata isn’t any worse or better than Marina Shafir, for instance). In the grand scheme of things, that would mean so much more for Aminata to win this and to get a singles title for the first time in her AEW career. We’ve seen what Shida and Statlander can do as champion, but not Aminata.

I actually would be tempted, if I were TK, to throw Maya World in at the last minute and give her the belt based on her performance at Forbidden Door, but she’s also got other titles she could win and build up some more steam toward, so juggling things around like that is not too too justifiable when Aminata is right there and already in the match.

Go with Aminata. See what happens. If the title reign is a dud, you can still put the belt on anyone else at any other time.
