Who Is Mr. SummerSlam In WWE? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day! WWE SummerSlam 2024 is coming up this Saturday, so we’ll be focusing quite a bit this week on The Biggest Part of the Summer in one way or another.

My question for you today is on the reflective side of things. We all know a Superstar like Shawn Michaels is referred to as “Mr. WrestleMania” due to his performances. But who would you equate that to when it comes to SummerSlam? Is there one person who stands out among the rest? “Who is Mr. SummerSlam?”

As far as my answer…

CM Punk once said in 2020 that he puts Bret Hart in this position and himself as the runner-up. BT Sport took a crack at nominating Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Bret Hart, The Undertaker and Edge as options back in 2022.

I’d throw John Cena into the option pool, along with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair (though they’d be Ms. SummerSlam). Technically speaking, I tend to think Macho Man Randy Savage when I think of SummerSlam, personally, but I don’t think that if you stacked him up against the others, that the general consensus would put him on top of the list.

I believe Orton has the most overall appearances at SummerSlam in the past, and possibly the best record. Then again, maybe Undertaker might have that overall record better. If my memory serves me right, someone like Cena has more losses than wins, actually, even though he’s consistently booked in a great spot there.

My gut tells me I’d lean more toward Orton or Lesnar. Yes, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker are my top two favorites of all time, and Bret Hart is my #3, but despite their great performances there (along with the match that involved all three together) I think I would still have to go to Orton or Lesnar.

Gun to my head, I think I’m going with Randy, but I bet if I answered this question on another day, I’d be teetering between Lesnar and Hart just the same.
