WWE SummerSlam 2026 takes place this Saturday and Sunday, with a split card of six matches per night as follows:

  • Fatal Influence vs. The Bella Twins & Paige – 6-woman tag team match
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi – Hell in a Cell match
  • CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes – Singles match for the Undisputed WWE Championship

SummerSlam Night 2 (Sunday, August 2, 2026)

  • Charlotte Flair vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Chelsea Green vs. Jade Cargill vs. TBA – 5-way ladder match for the Interim WWE Women’s Championship
  • Finn Bálor vs. Sami Zayn – Singles match to determine the No. 1 contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship
  • Dominik Mysterio vs. Danhausen – Human Monies on a Pole match
  • Trick Williams (c) vs. Baron Corbin – Singles match for the WWE United States Championship
  • Penta (c) vs. Chad Gable – Singles match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth “Freakin” Rollins – Singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship

My question for you today is “Which of those two shows do you think will be the better night of wrestling?”

As far as my answer…

If you combine these together and you look at it on paper, this is a rather impressive card. The trouble is when you start to really look at it under a microscope and you realize that it’s spread out over 2 days that will also have 6 hours worth of pre-show content before them. That’s a lot to digest, and in some of these cases, some of these matches come across less than necessary.

For instance, the two main events are big matches, Hell in a Cell is a big match, Nick Aldis finally wrestling is a big one, and a five woman ladder match for an interim world title is huge as well.

But then, there’s also the Human Monies on a Pole match that could easily be a Monday Night Raw segment, as could Finn Balor against Sami Zayn, as could the six-woman and six-man tag team bouts.

I really hate the idea that Liv Morgan didn’t really do anything with her title reign so far other than already have a match with Iyo Sky just to repeat it here. That’s lame. What a complete and utter failure of the creative department to have all these talented women across their main roster and NXT system and to do nothing with 99% of them for months. That really hurts that first night, along with having both of the trios matches.

Considering three negatives on night one and the main negative I would say about the second night would be the pole match, I think Sunday has the stronger card.

It’s strange WWE didn’t flip some of this. Why not put Trick/Corbin on the opposite night of Penta/Gable? Why not put the six-woman tag on the opposite night of the six-man tag? We’ve got a pole match on the same night as the ladder match??

I think a stronger balance would be to swap Liv/Iyo for the women’s ladder match and swap the six-woman tag for Trick vs Corbin. But who knows if there are some surprises in store that will make this all justifiable. I just doubt it, given 30+ years of watching and their history and track record. Both shows have a lot of potential, but they could also have some low points.
