Throughout pro wrestling history, wrestler contracts have been closely-guarded secrets. Details are hard to come by, so it can often be difficult to nail down exact dates for a contract’s expiration.
We had reported previously that Kenny Omega’s original AEW contract is set to expire around the end of January/beginning of February. However, Omega is being advertised for AEW’s show in Winnipeg, which takes place on March 14. So has Omega signed a new deal? A new report offers some clarification.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Omega’s current contract status. According to Meltzer, time could have been added to The Cleaner’s contract to account for time off due to injury. At this time, it is unknown if a new deal has been struck.
The Young Bucks are under contract until the end of 2023. If Omega makes a decision about his contract, it will likely coincide with the Young Bucks so they can make the decision together. The trio did something similar in 2018, when they all left New Japan together to start AEW.
