Update On Billy Gunn’s AEW Status, Future Remains Unclear

Billy Gunn’s AEW status has become a topic of speculation after months away from television, and a new report has shed light on the matter.

Fightful is reporting that, Gunn is “technically” still part of AEW, though it’s unclear whether the WWE Hall of Famer has been working backstage recently. The 62-year-old veteran also took some time off the road earlier this year.

Gunn is still officially listed on AEW’s roster, and he recently worked a dark match at the AEW Collision TV tapings in Kentucky, teaming with Brady Booker to defeat The Premier Athletes. He also worked a dark match for Ring of Honor last month.

Despite being 62, Gunn has remained active on the independent scene alongside his occasional AEW dark matches. His last televised AEW appearance came during The Acclaimed’s run, and he hasn’t appeared on AEW or ROH programming in a while.

The report doesn’t confirm whether Gunn’s role has changed or whether he’s still working as a coach backstage. For now, he remains on the roster, but his reduced presence on television and the road has left fans wondering what his future holds in AEW.
