UFC fighter Conor McGregor is being sought for questioning regarding alleged perjury after a phone was seized by an associate.
The Irish Mirror reports that the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI) has been trying to speak with McGregor for some time.
This comes after McGregor was found civilly liable for the sexual assault of Nikita Hand. McGregor has since claimed that he is innocent.
The NBCI are looking to speak to McGregor as they investigate claims that false statements were made during the course of his appeal.
Samantha O’Reilly is charged with two counts of giving a statement that she knew to be false on January 14 and on May 6 last year.
Steven Cummins, another associate of McGregor, is charged with giving a statement he knew to be false on January 14.
McGregor recently returned to UFC at the UFC 329 event, where he lost to Max Holloway in seconds and injured himself in the process.
The Irish fighter’s name has often been brought up for a role with WWE though it is unclear if the sexual assault will affect a possible future as a pro wrestler.
UFC and WWE are under the same umbrella, TKO Group Holdings, which has resulted in several crossover moments between UFC and WWE talent.
