Trish Stratus Says Moment With Vince McMahon Changed The Course Of Her Career

The career of Trish Stratus changed forever thanks to her work with Vince McMahon in 2001, the multi-time Women’s Champion has shared.

Stratus became romantically tied to McMahon on WWE TV in early 2001, to play mind games with Stephanie McMahon, who Trish was feuding with.

On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Trish recalled working with the boss just one year after she debuted on WWE programming. She said,

“I worked with the boss. Like, I’m gonna bring my A game, you know what I mean? I worked with him, learned a lot from him.”

Stratus would turn on Vince during his WrestleMania 17 Street Fight with Shane McMahon, establishing her as a face on WWE TV for the first time.

On the podcast, Stratus recalled the moment in the match, sharing that it helped change everything for her character on WWE programming. She said,

“It culminated to this moment where it got to slap Vince McMahon and Trish Stratus got to stand up on her own, and, you know, show the world what she could do, and then I got to have the run and start wrestling a little bit, and, yeah, changed the whole trajectory where I was going.”

Stratus would win her first of seven Women’s Titles that same year and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
