The card for AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door III is starting to fill up with a special Winner Takes All match now set for the upcoming pay-per-view.
As announced on the June 5, 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite, Mercedes Moné will defend her AEW TBS Championship against CMLL’s Stephanie Vaquer, who will also put her New Japan Pro-Wrestling STRONG Women’s Championship on the line.
It’s title-for-title, which means fans are getting a big shift in the landscape no matter who is victorious. Important to note is that neither the CMLL World Women’s Championship and CMLL World Women’s Tag Team Championship, both also currently held by Vaquer, are not up for grabs.
Moné previously defeated Vaquer in the semi-finals to crown the STRONG women’s champion back at Resurgence 2023, before losing to Willow Nightingale. This pay-per-view continues to haunt Moné, who thinks that title has her name written all over it and she was meant to have won that tournament.
IT’S OFFICIAL!
