We are live with ongoing coverage of The WRLD on GCW, the biggest show in the company’s history. The show will take place in the sold out Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The Kickoff show can be watched at 7 pm eastern at this link and the pay-per-view starts at 8 pm eastern.

Kickoff Show

Pabst Blue Ribbon Kickoff Battle Royal
Participants: Psycho Clown, Dark Sheik, Cole Radrick, Parrow, “Hoodfoot” Mo Atlas, Ruckus, KTB, Juicy Finau, “2 Hot” Steve Scott, “Spyder” Nate Webb, Big Vin, Brandon Kirk, Janai Kai, Dustin Thomas, Marcus Mathers, Yoya, Charles Mason, B-Boy, Lufisto, Thunder Rosa

Big Vin won the battle royal and his father (ECW star 911) walked out to ringside to celebrate with him.

Pabst Blue Ribbon Scramble Match
The Grim Reefer vs. Shane Mercer vs. Dante Leon vs. Jack Cartwheel vs. Ninja Mack vs. Alex Zayne

Legendary ECW announcer Stephen DeAngelis did the introductions for this match. Grim Reefer won the match after hitting Mercer with a DDT on a steel chair.

After the match, Brett Lauderdale talked about the shows in cities like Chicago and Los Angeles and Atlantic City. He also said they plan on selling out Dallas. Lauderdale said he was delivering Chinese food and pizza when he started GCW. He thanked the fans who have been there from the beginning and said that things were rough in 2020 because of the pandemic. Lauderdale said people have told him that GCW would never last and he took that as an insult. He put over Allie Catch as the “toughest b*tch in wrestling.” He said EFFY is “our guy” and he wants to make wrestling as “gay as f*cking possible” and there’s only one GCW going live on pay-per-view.

Dickinson then grabbed the mic to get the crowd pumped up. Dickinson said he’s coming back during Spring Break weekend and he thanked everyone who picked him up when he was down.

Lauderdale took a second to remember the people who are no longer with us.

The competitors for the Brass Ring Ladder Match were introduced ahead of the live pay-per-view broadcast.

Main Card

Grab the Brass Ring Ladder Match – Winner can name match of their choice at any time against anyone
PCO vs. Tony Deppen vs. Alex Colon vs. Jimmy Lloyd vs. Jordan Oliver vs. G-Raver vs. AJ Gray

Extreme Champion AJ Gray was a late addition to the match. Ladders were brought in at the start of the match. Deppen was the first to climb the ladder but he was pulled off by Gray. Deppen took a powerbomb onto the ladder from Gray and Gray followed up with a lariat. Gray went to climb the ladder G-Raver knocked him off. Raver tossed a smaller ladder at PCO but PCO recovered and he hit a doomsday device with a ladder in hand as Raver was positioned on Colon’s shoulders. Everyone did dives to the floor, including one from PCO through the ropes on the rest of the competitors. Deppen did a crazy double springboard dive off the top rope onto everyone at ringside. Gray did a dive off the stage and then PCO nailed him with a chair. PCO followed up with a moonsault off the top rope and to his opponents at ringside. PCO tried to climb the ladder in the ring but Deppen climbed up a bigger ladder next to him and he knocked PCO off. Oliver did an incredible spring off a ladder and spring back off the ropes to hit a cutter to knock Deppen off the bigger ladder. PCO then chokeslammed Oliver off a ladder. PCO then hit Oliver with a package piledriver on a ladder that was laid out in the ring. Colon jumped in and took out PCO and he hit PCO with a double stomp off a ladder with PCO laid out on a chair. G-Raver sandwiched Colon in between two chairs and a ladder and instead of grabbing the brass ring, he hit an elbow off the top. G-Raver was launched by Lloyd through chairs, a ladder and table that were set up outside of the ring. Gray leaped off a huge ladder that was on the floor and he tried an elbow drop on Colon but he slipped and crashed on the top turnbuckle. John Wayne Murdoch took out Colon at ringside as Gray climbed the ladder and grabbed the brass ring.

Team Bandido (ASF & Bandido & Laredo Kid) vs. Team Gringo (Arez & Demonic Flamita & Gringo Loco)

Arez and Laredo Kid started the match. Bandido tagged in and he hit the Three Amigos as a tribute to Eddie Guerrero. There was a cool spot that saw Gringo Loco doing a dive over the top as Laredo Kid and ASF were put in a surfboard move outside of the ring. This was reminiscent of those great WCW cruiserweight matches that had lots of action for every second of the match. Flamita almost scored a pin on ASF after a Tiger Driver. Several minutes later, Gingo Loco and Bandido faced off one on one and they had a chop exchange and then a hurricanrana that almost led to a pin. ASF got in the ring against Flamita. Then everyone else jumped in to set up a chicken fight and ASF hit a sunset powerbomb. Too crazy to describe. ASF was also launched for the ring to the floor into a hurricanrana. Bandido also did a twisting springboard dive onto the competitors on the floor. Laredo Kid did a Spanish Fly to Arez that took them to the floor. Gringo Loco won the match with a cradle piledriver on ASF. Really good match.

Ian Riccaboni came out to commentate the next match.

Lio Rush vs. Blake Christian

Christian told the fans that Jonathan Gresham is not here but he wanted to fight someone at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Lio Rush was announced as Gresham’s replacement. No word on why Gresham did not appear. Christian hit the first offensive move with a kick to the head that knocked Rush out of the ring. Rush caught Christian with a kick that knocked him out of the ring. Rush followed up with heel kicks and a dive through the ropes but Christian quickly recovered and hit his own dive through the ropes. Christian went for the first pin attempt after he hit Rush with a tilt a whirl into a gut buster. Christian moved out of the way of a running forearm to the head and then he locked Rush into a crucifix submission. Rush made it to the bottom rope and then Christian charged at Rush’s ribs. Rush turned things around with a big spear and right hands. Rush sold the ribs as he hit a kick to the back of the head. They did a misdirection spot off the ropes and Rush hit another spear. Rush hit a falcon arrow into a pin attempt. Blake recovered and hit a springboard into a bulldog. Christian hit a springboard Spanish fly and a 450 splash, followed by a pin attempt. Rush hit a Poison Rana and the Final Hour splash off the rope but Christian kicked out of the pin attempt. Moments later, Christian dove out of the ring and caught Rush by the neck so he could pick him up and hit a tombstone piledriver. Christian pinned Rush to win the match. Very good match.

Matt Cardona (w/ Chelsea Green) vs. Joey Janela

Cardona made his entrance to “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. There was tons of heat for Cardona and Green. Cardona referred to the “GCW Universe” and said his mom and dad were there so he cant be booed. He called the fans, the wrestlers in the back and Brett Lauderdale ungrateful because he and Green are the reason why the Hammerstein Ballroom is sold out. Cardona promised to end Janela’s career before Tony Khan can fire him.

Carona started the match with a Rough Rider into a pin attempt. He followed up with punches to the head. Janela recovered and did a Death Valley Driver on Cardona through a door in the corner of the ring. Later in the match, Green hit Cardona with a low blow but it was a swerve because Cardona was wearing a cup and it was just to lure Janela so she can trip him up on the top rope.  Cardona then kicked a chair in Janela’s face in the corner. Janela recovered and hit a superplex off the top rope. Janela followed up with an offensive flurry.

Janela was about to use Cardona’s title but Smart Mark Sterling walked out and said that he would be disqualified if he used the belt. Sterling then introduced “Vince” with a Vince McMahon mask. The “Vince” was revealed to be Virgil to cause a distraction to allow Cardona to recover. Cardona tried to use the belt but he accidentally hit Sterling. Cardona’s nose was busted open. Janela hit Cardona with a Death Valley Driver on the ring apron. Hornswoggle came out from under the ring and he shoved Janela into the ring post. Sam Stackhouse appeared and he squashed Swoggle in the corner of the ring. Stackhouse followed up with a moonsault attempt off the top rope but he missed. Marko Stunt appeared and he tossed a chair t Swoggle’s head but Cardona took him out with an inverted DDT.

Stunt set up Swoggle on a door bridge. Stunt hit a double stomp on Swoggle through a door. Green hit Marko with the Internet Title and she hit a Destroyer. Janela went to attack Green but Cardona hit him in the back with a chair. Cardona hit a Death Valley Driver through a chair, Janela kicked out of a pin attempt. Cardona brought more doors into the match but Janela recovered in time to hit Cardona with a chair to the abck. Green hit Janela with cane shots to the body. Janela fought back by hitting Green with a piledriver. Someone in riot gear speared Janela through a door in the corner. The mystery man was Brian Myers. Cardona hit the Rough Rider through a door on Janela and he pinned him to win the match. Fans threw stuff into the ring. Sean Waltman came out to the DX theme and he took out Myers and Cardona.

Mance Warner walked out to give a speech but he was interrupted by Atticus Cogar. Cogar said 440 are the real outlaws of GCW. Warner and Cogar fought in the ring. Matthew Justice ran out to help Warner. More 440 members jumped in to attack Warner and Justice.

The lights went out and a whistle was heard. It was Bill Alfonso and Sabu to help out to take out the 440 crew. Justice hit a Superfly style splash on Gregory Iron and Alfonso counted him out.

That was a great moment and a nice callback for old school ECW fans.

Ruby Soho vs. Allie Katch

They started off going back and forth on offense until Allie drove Soho into the middle turnbuckle with her knees. Allie hit a cannonball into the corner on Soho before trying a pin attempt. Allie hit a release German suplex but Soho blocked a kick to the head and she hit a suplex.

Allie went for a move off the top but Soho caught her with an arm drag and a kick to the head. Soho drove Allie with her head into the canvas. Soho got angry with the referee after the third failed pin attempt. Soho missed a double stomp, Allie hit a kick to the head and a piledriver but Roho kicked out of the pin attempt. Allie tried a superplex off the top but Soho slipped out. Soho pulled Allie off the top rope and nailed her with a kick to the head.

The fans were not happy that Allie lost. Both women hugged after the match.

Jeff Jarrett vs. EFFY

The match started with EFFY pulling a $20 bill out of his tights and telling Jarrett to take it so he can get out of the match. Jarrett declined. They locked up and Jarrett shoved EFFY into the ring corner. Jarrett took issue with EFFY playing mind games.

EFFY took over on offense with shots to the body. EFFY grinded his hips on the top of Jarrett’s neck before putting him in a variation of the tarantula on the ropes. Jarrett tossed EFFY out of the ring and then whipped him with a belt. Jarrett threw him into a ring attendant at ringside and he continued with the belt shots to the back. Back in the ring, Jarrett continued the attack with the belt.

Jarrett tied EFFY’s hands to the turnbuckle so he could beat him with a chair but EFFY freed himself before Jarrett could connect with the chair. EFFY hit a flurry of offense and he whipped Jarrett with the belt. EFFY tried a blockbuster off the top but Jarrett moved. EFFY hit a low blow and then used the fishnets around Jarrett’s face. EFFY then went to use the guitar but Jarrett fought back, hit the guitar shot and the stroke finisher. Jarrett pinned him to win the match. EFFY’s nose was busted.

GCW World Championship
Jon Moxley (Champion) vs. Homicide

Fans chanted “f*ck Bully Ray” at the start of this match. They traded punches and Mox knocked Homicide down with an elbow. Mox also knocked him off the ring apron. The match spilled to the ringside area. Back in the ring, Mox tried to break Homicide’s fingers and he hit a piledriver. Moxley hit kicks to the body but Homicide fought back with a pair of exploder suplexes and a dive through the ropes onto Mox at ringside.

Homicide hit a cutter off the middle rope and then a pin attempt. Mox slipped out of the Cop Killa attempt and they traded elbows to the head. Mox hit a German suplex but Homicide no sold it and hit his own German suplex. Mox hit the double arm DDT but Homicide kicked out of the pin attempt. Mox hit elbows to the head and he locked in the bulldog choke but Homicide made it to the bottom rope. Mox hit the double arm DDT onto two chairs but Homicide was able to get his shoulder up during the pin attempt. Mox hit a clothesline and another DDT through the chair and this was enough for him to win the match.

GCW World Tag Team Championship – Open Challenge
The Briscoes (Champions) vs. Nick Gage and Matt Tremont

Matt Tremont’s music played and he walked out to the ring. Tremont took some doors out from under the ring. Dewey Donovan appeared on the stage to lead Nick Gage out to the ring. The match started with Gage spearing Mark through a door in the corner of the ring.

Jay and Tremont fought each other with chairs. Matt and Gage beat each other with pieces of a door and Donovan brought a pizza cutter into the match as Jay launched a chair into Gage’s face. Mark hit Gage with an elbow off the top and through the door in the ring. Mark then tossed a chair in Tremont’s face and then they traded punches. Tremont caught Jay and slammed him. Tremont hit a piledriver on Mark off the middle rope and through a door. Nick pinned Jay to win the titles. It was a quick match and the finish caught fans by surprise because Jay popped up during the pin. They might have had to cut the match short because of time restrictions on pay-per-view.

Gage cut a promo in the ring as the roster ran out to celebrate with him.
