As we’ve been reporting here on eWn, there has been a lot of talk about Cody Rhodes and what he’ll be doing next following his departure from AEW. There have been a lot of rumors that Rhodes will be returning to WWE and there have definitely been ongoing talks between the two sides recently, but those have said to have “fizzled out” in recent weeks.

According to a report from Fightful, Cody Rhodes is “well aware” of all of the rumors surrounding him and what he’s planning to do next. Several people close to Cody have continued to downplay the idea of him going anywhere for quite some time. He has been trying to keep a lower profile since around the time Cesaro decided to leave WWE.

While many people in WWE were never specifically told that Rhodes was coming in, there was a lot of talk that it’d be happening. Several pitches were even made to have Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins take place at WrestleMania 38.

As far as the creative side of things is concerned, there is currently a lot of “uncertainty” among the writers. One source noted that “nothing had changed” and if it had, they hadn’t been told about it.

Additionally, several AEW stars who were backstage at Revolution on Sunday night were under the impression that the deal was off and Rhodes wasn’t returning to WWE after all. With that being said, that was all speculative and no one had confirmed this was the case.

For what it’s worth, Cody Rhodes’ manager Brian Wittenstein was in Orlando, FL for AEW Revolution but he also represents other AEW stars so that wasn’t considered a big deal.

And finally, there is “something worth looking out for” regarding Cody’s future in the Hollywood trade publications. As of this writing, there is no word on if that pertains to pro wrestling or the Rhodes to the Top reality show.
