The Road Dogg Comments On His Current WWE Role, Chad Gable Isn’t Interested In Shoot Matches

WWE Hall of Famer Brian “Road Dogg” James was a recent guest on the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast to discuss a variety of topics, including his current role in WWE.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On his current role in WWE: “So really, I’m still in charge of creative of live events. But now we have scaled live events back. Domestically, especially this coming year, we’re going to find out where our sweet spot is, but a lot of overseas live events coming up this year, there’s huge money there.”

On the business side of WWE: “The business side of things right now is so far beyond what they have ever been before, even Attitude, all that stuff is just putting shame what the business is doing now with Hunter at the Helmsley [laughs]. I know, I’m sorry. I’m a granddad.”

During a recent appearance on “The Jay Ferruggia Show,” WWE Superstar Chad Gable commented on people in WWE challenging wrestlers with an amateur wrestling background to playful “shoot” matches. Gable says he tries to avoid that sort of thing.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On if he’s ever been challenged to shoot fights: “It’s not so much that someone wants to do it with me, it’s more people that have no background in it that know there are a couple of guys that do have a background in it and they are trying to get guys going. That’s happened to me, where they try to get me in on it.”

On knowing well enough to avoid it: “I know what that turns into. I’ve seen it enough times. It’s not going to end good for anybody. I’m very satisfied with my career and I don’t feel like I have anything to prove in that sense to anybody. That goes down a little bit of a different path, but I’ve never succumbed to any of that and been like, ‘I have to prove myself.’ I’m good. I did it. I’ve seen people succumb to it and throw down with each other. It ends in fisticuffs. It’s going nowhere good.”
