The Reason Why AEW Announced Blood & Guts 2026 Early

AEW’s decision to announce Blood & Guts months before an obvious storyline had developed for the marquee match reportedly came down to one simple factor – ticket sales.

The company recently announced that Blood & Guts will take place on November 4, despite there being no clear feud yet that appears to be building toward the signature double-ring, double-cage showdown. The timing raised questions among fans, particularly because the match has traditionally been introduced as the culmination of a major rivalry.

Sean Ross Sapp addressed the situation during a recent edition of “The Hump,” revealing that he reached out to people within AEW to ask why the company chose to announce the event before establishing the story behind the match. He said.

“There were a lot of people that kind of gave that a lot of flak because Tony announced it. And I spoke to people in AEW. I was like, ‘Hey, why did you all announce it this way?’ Because, I mean, the bag on that whenever it’s like WarGames or anything is, why does the match never facilitate the announcement of the show?”

“And people in AEW were like, ‘Well, ideally we would like it to be like that, but the show is less than two months away and we got to get tickets on sale, and there’s one configuration that that could possibly be for, so we might as well promote it from the jump and get those tickets sold.’”
