The Real Reason For Rusev’s WWE Absence Revealed

Rusev has been absent from WWE television since the end of July, and new details have emerged regarding the reason behind his disappearance.

Following his match against Je’Von Evans, speculation began circulating online that Rusev was unhappy with WWE and had allegedly “stormed off” after the bout.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Rusev’s hands went numb during the match after he landed awkwardly on his neck during a spot. The referee reportedly asked Rusev if the match needed to be stopped, but Rusev wanted to continue. His condition eventually worsened, which is said to be the reason he hurried backstage after the match.

Rusev was also believed to have been placed in concussion protocol following the incident.

Afterward, Rusev was given a couple of weeks away from the WWE Performance Center. When he eventually returned, he was dealing with an undisclosed illness and was awaiting medical clearance from WWE. He was still waiting to be cleared as recently as last week.

Despite his extended absence, Rusev is currently expected to return to WWE television at some point in September.

The circumstances surrounding his departure from the arena appear to have been related to his health rather than frustration with WWE, putting to rest some of the speculation that circulated online following the match.
