Austin Creed and Kofi Kingston appear set for an extended stay in AEW, with new information revealing details about their contracts, creative plans, and the circumstances surrounding their arrival in the company.
According to a report from Fightful Select, both wrestlers signed five-year agreements with AEW, officially finalizing their contracts just one day before All In 2026. However, discussions about their potential direction in the promotion had been underway well before the paperwork was completed.
One of the earliest creative pitches involved pairing Creed and Kingston with Swerve Strickland, eventually leading to the formation of The New Level. Strickland reportedly played an important role in establishing the relationship between the former WWE stars and AEW.
While Swerve helped facilitate the initial connection, AEW President Tony Khan reportedly avoided direct negotiations with Creed and Kingston until they were no longer under contract with WWE.
Another interesting detail concerns The New Level’s entrance music. AEW secured the licensing rights to the song “New Level,” but the track wasn’t officially approved until the day of All In 2026. Sony needed to provide final clearance before the company could use the music. Sources indicated that last-minute approvals are fairly common when dealing with music licensing agreements.
Meanwhile, The New Level recently dropped the AEW World Trios Championships, although their reign was reportedly never intended to be a lengthy one. The title loss was part of the group’s planned creative direction rather than an indication of any change in the company’s commitment to the performers.
With five-year contracts reportedly in place, Creed and Kingston are positioned to remain major parts of AEW’s roster for the foreseeable future.
