More details have emerged regarding WWE’s latest trademark filing.
As we previously reported here on eWn, WWE submitted an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Friday, August 28, for the term “946.” According to a report from False Finish, the trademark is connected to the new alliance between Royce Keys and OTM.
The group officially came together on this past Monday’s episode of WWE RAW. Keys made his return to television with a new attitude, joining forces with OTM members Bronco Nima and Lucien Price. The trio immediately made an impact, attacking The Usos, as well as Keys’ former allies Solo Sikoa and LA Knight, before standing tall as the show went off the air.
The “946” name reportedly has ties to Oakland, California, with Michael Cole referencing the trio’s Oakland roots during their debut.
Keys had been off WWE television since earlier this month, when Jacob Fatu brutally defeated him in a Street Fight on RAW and continued his assault after the match. The incident left Keys sidelined until his surprise return.
Meanwhile, Nima’s alliance with Los Perros del Mal came to an end following his loss to Penta on the August 23 Lucha Libre AAA event. His departure from the group ultimately paved the way for his reunion with Price and his move to the WWE main roster alongside Keys.
