Roman Reigns officially came face-to-face with his next challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship on WWE RAW.
WWE held a star-studded tournament on the August 10 episode of RAW to determine the next number one contender for Reigns’ championship. The field featured wrestlers from WWE’s main roster and AAA, with PENTA, Rey Fenix, Dragon Lee, Psycho Clown, La Parka, Laredo Kid, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., and El Fiscal all entering the competition.
The tournament eventually came down to PENTA, Fenix, Dragon Lee, and La Parka. The semifinal matches took place on the following episode of RAW, setting up an anticipated showdown between the Lucha Brothers in the tournament final.
PENTA and Fenix even had an intense face-off in the platform area ahead of their match. Despite the tension surrounding their battle, the two brothers ultimately showed each other respect before settling their differences inside the ring.
DISCLAIMER: This article contains spoilers from the August 31 WWE RAW tapings.
PENTA emerged victorious over Rey Fenix in the tournament final during the August 31 taping in Cleveland, Ohio. With the win, he secured a shot at Roman Reigns’ World Heavyweight Championship on the September 14 episode of RAW in Mexico City.
PENTA barely had time to celebrate before Reigns made his presence felt. The OTC entered the ring and came face-to-face with his new challenger, raising the Big Gold Belt between them.
PENTA stared intensely at the championship before delivering his trademark “Zero Miedo” gesture. Reigns responded by raising his fingers toward the sky and acknowledging his future opponent before eventually walking away.
However, the champion apparently wanted the final word. As PENTA made his way toward the exit, Reigns continued talking trash to his upcoming challenger.
