Following this week’s episode of WWE NXT, the company taped next week’s show.
According to a report from Corey Brennan, Shotzi suffered a “serious knee injury” during the NXT Women’s Championship match featuring herself and Lyra Valkyria.
The match wound up being stopped, with Shotzi being helped to the back by WWE officials.
For what it’s worth, Shotzi was set to face off against Tiffany Stratton in a qualifying match for the women’s Elimination Chamber match on Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown. It’s possible plans will now need to be changed.
UPDATE: According to a report from Fightful Select, Shotzi hit her knee on the side of the ring while taking a fall to the outside.
It is said that Shotzi wasn’t able to put any weight on her knee. She was said to have been in a ton of pain backstage and officials were very concerned for her. Shotzi has since been taken to a local medical facility to get checked out.
There is “no heat” on Valkyria or Shotzi as it was a “freak accident.”
Additionally, WWE NXT General Manager Ava came out following the injury and said an open challenge would take place. Lash Legend answered the challenge and beat Valkyria down, but Valkyria was able to get the win over Legend and retain the title. It is said that Valkyria, Legend and Ava were all praised for being able to adapt to the situation on such short notice.
