CM Punk’s status with AEW continues to be a mystery in wrestling.

During Tuesday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that some within WWE aren’t too keen on Punk potentially returning to the company and would prefer for him to stay away.

The report notes that some within the company “absolutely do not want him there.” It was also noted that while some voices in WWE express their concern regarding a Punk return, those voices do not belong to the WWE creative team. The negativity surrounding Punk’s potential return stems from the controversy in AEW and whether WWE needs that kind of drama right now.

There have been rumors of Punk’s contract potentially being bought out; however, no such confirmation has been provided by either Punk or AEW.
