Should Saraya Appear At WWE Evolution? How Would You Book Her? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

Saraya turned some heads when she tweeted out about WWE Evolution, erroneously referring to it as being this weekend when it will actually take place next Sunday, July 13th.

Nevertheless, the intention was to spark some speculation that she could be showing up for the event, whether that’s just to get her name in the media cycle for nothing but buzz, or to generate hype for something that isn’t in the works in the hopes that she can leverage that to coming back to WWE in time for this, or even a legitimate tease with plans already in the works for her to make her return to World Wrestling Entertainment.

We won’t know, so now, it’s time to just speculate and let our imaginations run wild.

My question for you today is “Do you think Saraya should appear at Evolution? If so, how would you put her on the card if you were booking it?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

I can’t say I would be clamoring to see Paige return in a prominent role as a member of the regular roster, after seeing what she did in AEW and being underwhelmed with all of that. However, I do think there’s inherent value to bringing back legends and giving fans of those characters and the performers themselves something of a little trinket here and there.

Let’s say Paige hasn’t burned all her bridges and WWE would be willing to bring her back. And let’s assume Saraya can still wrestle at least at the level she was in AEW, as opposed to being barred from in-ring competition in WWE due to her injuries. If that’s the case, then I say go ahead, bring her back, sign her to a WWE Legends contract, and let her compete in the battle royal.

She’ll get a pop. Some people will be thinking that she’s the frontrunner to win. When someone eliminates her—preferably a heel, like Chelsea Green or an NXT girl like Lash Legend or Izzi Dame, or maybe even someone on the rise if they include Kali Armstrong or Zayda Steel—that woman will be able to get some heat out of it, which is good for everyone.

Then, if the response is warm enough and WWE feels like they’ve got something to work with, bring Paige back and see who she can work a program opposite. Give her a shot at the Women’s United States Championship and let Giulia beat her.

I don’t think she has the mic skills to be a manager, and I think her time with The Outcasts and Absolution prove this, so I wouldn’t want to test her out in that role again. She’s not a backstage interviewer or commentator type, but being on a legends deal means you’re more so someone they can license merch for, put in the video games, use for meet and greets and so on. I think she could be valuable in those aspects, along with some sporadic appearances.

At the very least, if she’s available, I say bring her in and put her in the crowd for one of those “Look who’s here!” types of shots that they do, even if you’re not signing her to a contract. But I think you could also have her in a backstage segment interacting with some characters, or she could be a fun special guest referee of something as well.

This is supposed to be a celebration of women’s wrestling just as much as a normal pay-per-view card, and I think Paige has earned her spot in being part of the revered “people who paved the way” discussion.
