Should Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo Leave AEW? | Question Of The Day

A topic that generated some buzz yesterday was the rumor/speculation/whatever you want to call it that Tay Melo had requested her release from All Elite Wrestling in 2025, but was denied, and the idea that Sammy Guevera could also want to leave AEW.

Whether or not any of that has any truth to it or not, the idea is out there in the ethos, so let’s talk about it.

My question for you today is “Would you like to see Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo leave AEW? If so, where would you like to see them go next?”

As far as my answer…

All things considered, I do hope they leave if they can go to WWE. Specifically, Sammy Guevara has been on my list from the start of AEW as someone I could imagine doing rather well in NXT, and we know that Tay improved by going to AEW far better than what she was during her stint in NXT, so I wouldn’t mind seeing her pop back up on that brand as well.

We as fans are obviously completely unaware of how the locker rooms balance out, who is liked and disliked, easy to work with or a bother, etc. There’s no way we can accurately state whether someone would definitively fit in. But the older they get, the less I think they would soak up any of the NXT teachings and not gel as well with that sort of college vibe that that seems to have going for it. Granted, older wrestlers have been on NXT and fit in just fine, and it’s not as if either of them are in their 50s, but I still think someone like Guevara could have been a more natural fit a few years back than he would be now, even though he might have needed that time away to mature and to learn from underneath the Tony Khan side of things.

If not WWE, I wouldn’t mind seeing what they could do in TNA. Tay would immediately be a prominent force in the women’s division, given their lack of depth and her experience level, and Guevara could easily be slotted into the title hunt for any belt and I wouldn’t bat an eye, to be honest. Give him the X Division title? Sure. Make him the international champion? Yeah, I can see it. A match against Nic Nemeth for the world title? Sign me up.

If Melo requested her release, she must have wanted it. Guevara, meanwhile, is just wasting away some precious years being part of the ROH side of things and not on AEW programming ever anymore, so I think it might be time to take that risk if either of them thought there was interest in those two companies.
