Oba Femi is currently on a hot WWE run, and SummerSlam 2026 may be the event that defines his future. The pay-per-view event already has major headline matches locked in. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship is official. Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY is also set to bring major attention. Yet, one contest has created the loudest buzz—Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell.

This bout alone feels massive. But recent discussion has raised an even bigger question. Should WWE make Oba Femi pull double duty across both SummerSlam nights?

Femi Has Been Built Like A Monster

The Triple H-led management has carefully elevated Oba Femi in recent months. His 2026 King of the Ring victory over Jey Uso at WWE Night of Champions 2026 gave him guaranteed championship leverage. Normally, winning that tournament leads directly to a world title opportunity.

However, WWE added a twist. Instead of immediately cashing in that right, The Ruler turned his focus toward Brock Lesnar. That decision initially raised questions. Why would a rising star ignore a title shot for a fight with Lesnar?

This was answered on the latest episode of RAW. The Beast returned and attacked Femi for taking verbal shots at him for the past few weeks. The confrontation gave the feud real logical weight. Suddenly, Femi’s choice made sense. This was no longer about titles. It became personal.

WWE Made The Lesnar Decision Feel Logical

During a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray praised how WWE handled the angle. The veteran said,

“I remember saying to you (Dave LaGreca) maybe a week or two ago, if Brock does attack Oba, and Oba decides to go after Brock, what does that mean for the world championship? Like, how do you win the King of the Ring and get a shot at the championship, but then decide, no, I don’t want it, I want Brock instead? And last night, in some very gentle, subtle ways, they did a great job with it. Heyman did a masterful job of planting the seeds with [Adam] Pearce. Because Heyman is now in front of Pearce going, what we just gave you in the ring is bigger than any world championship match that could possibly happen.”

Paul Heyman helped sell the idea that Femi vs. Lesnar carries main-event value equal to a championship bout. That made the angle believable. Furthermore, in the podcast, Ray added,

“Everything that they did last night, when it came to Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar, made sense. I understand why Oba was so pi**ed off. I understand why he wants Brock, and he wants Brock now. And I understand why he basically said, I can have this championship match whenever I want.”

As per the storyline, Femi still owns championship leverage. He simply delayed using it.

Can A SummerSlam Double Main Event Be Realistically Booked?

This is where the debate becomes interesting. Bully Ray previously pitched a blockbuster scenario. He suggested The Ruler should wrestle on both nights of SummerSlam 2026. Night One would feature Femi against Lesnar. Night Two would see him challenge Roman Reigns for the world title.

Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Ray suggested,

“If Oba Femi defeats Brock Lesnar, Brock retires. But if Brock Lesnar defeats Oba Femi, Brock gets his number one contender’s shot and goes on to face Roman Reigns night two of SummerSlam.”

He continued,

“What I just laid out gave WWE an opportunity to make Oba Femi their next mega star. Oba defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, Oba Femi retires Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Oba Femi defeats Roman Reigns at SummerSlam and becomes your champion. If you’re gonna do it, let’s f**king do it.”

It sounds huge. It also feels unrealistic right now. Why? Because WWE already confirmed Reigns vs. Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. That closes the door on Femi challenging Reigns at SummerSlam. Still, the company has another option.

WWE Could Use Sami Zayn To Unlock The Double Main Event

If WWE truly wants the double main event idea, there is one path. Oba Femi could use his King of the Ring privilege against Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship instead. That would keep the Reigns-Rollins match untouched.

This route creates maximum impact. Night One could feature Femi possibly surviving Hell in a Cell to defeat Lesnar. A victory there would instantly legitimize him. Beating Lesnar in their trilogy match will be a career-defining moment for The Ruler.

Night Two could then deliver the ultimate payoff. Femi challenges Sami Zayn to possibly capture the Undisputed WWE Championship. WWE doesn’t need to force this booking. The Lesnar match already feels enormous. But if the company wants to crown its next unstoppable attraction, a double duty for Femi could be the boldest move possible.

Oba Femi already looks like a future world champion. SummerSlam 2026 might be the perfect moment to prove it.
