Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

It finally happened Saturday at WWE Elimination Chamber—John Cena turned heel. There hasn’t even been an episode of Monday Night Raw to see the repercussions of this massive turn, and we have no idea how this is going to play out over 2025.

Even still, before anything else happens that can influence our opinions, I’d like to get some predictions and some preferences out of the way so we can look back and see if our opinions change and we end up with a different point of view come December.

My question for you today is “Should John Cena end his run as a heel or should he turn babyface at some point this year?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

My gut tells me Cena’s just too marketable and too interested in being a “good guy” for his branding that he can’t possibly end his career as a heel. It’s not as though it’s a guarantee, but I just think it would be very weird for that to be the last time we ever see him competing.

Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m incredibly excited to see what heel Cena brings us, and I want this to be a long enough run that he can really sink his teeth into it. I don’t want him to change his mind and turn face after losing at WrestleMania, for instance, where all we got was one month of a villainous arc.

Before we see anything else, my preferences would be for Cena to actually win at WrestleMania and hold the title as a heel while feuding with people like CM Punk, Bron Breakker, Damian Priest, and so on, but I don’t want to lose sight over some heels I want him to work with, too, like Carmelo Hayes, Drew McIntyre, and Gunther.

Some of those feuds can be heel versus heel and it can still be just as fun, or better, but there will be some people who Cena just works naturally more as a babyface against. In some situations, like a feud with Logan Paul, Cena will obviously be cheered even if it’s heel/heel.

I don’t know who they have planned to be his final opponent, but I feel like people should ultimately be able to come back around to cheering for him in that scenario, and it shouldn’t be when he drops the title, but that he should drop the belt, come to his senses, and then, fight as a babyface.

Until something changes my mind, I’m saying heel Cena until around September, and the remaining few months can wrap him up as a babyface.

What do you think? Drop your thoughts below!
