Shotzi Talks Success Outside WWE, Mick Foley Shares Advice For AEW, Abyss On His WWE Role

During a recent appearance on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” former WWE Superstar Shotzi Blackheart discussed her indie wrestling rival, Matt Cardona, stating that success in wrestling can be achieved outside of WWE.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On what she learned from Matt Cardona: “Matt Cardona showed you if anything, you can make it on your own. A ton of people [showed that]. So I’m taking this indie run very seriously.”

On not getting many wrestling bookings for June: “I wanted everyone to think that I was coming back in July, so no one hit me up for much for the month of June, so I think that’s why I didn’t get any bookings for June. I was trying to keep my first appearances under wraps because I wanted it to be a surprise.”

During a recent appearance on WANE 15 News, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley discussed the current state of the wrestling business, including AEW. He said,

“Yeah, well, I think we’re in a really strong position. WWE on a global basis has never been more successful. I think AEW realizes they don’t have to topple WWE to be really successful and really enjoyable, and there’s other wrestling out there for people who like all kinds of styles. I mean, just like in the city of Chicago, for example, you can find three or four different types of wrestling on a single night and all of it’s good, depending on what your tastes are.”

During a recent appearance on the “Getting Over: Wrestling Podcast,” WWE producer Chris Park (Abyss) discussed his transition from a wrestler to a producer.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On how he became a producer: “The opportunity was presented to me kinda out of the blue. I was still wrestling, I was definitely on the back nine as they say, my career was definitely winding down. I was much more towards the end than towards the beginning. So when the opportunity presented itself, I had a decision to make — am I ready to step away from active competition in the ring to be behind the scenes producing.”

On why it was an easy decision: “For me, it was an easy decision at that point in time. I had no regrets, I had an incredible career. I’ll never be one of those grizzled veterans that’s unhappy with how the business unfolded. For me, it gave me everything. I had the opportunity to work with, you know, a bucket list — I could sit here for an hour and rattle off the names of guys that I was able to work with. It was a dream come true to go out there and create magic. But when the opportunity came, it was a pretty easy decision for me.”

On not competing in the ring anymore: “It was life-changing with the fact I wasn’t going to compete in the ring anymore, but now I’m competing behind the scenes and helping the younger talent and just the whole roster in general achieve their goals, achieve the company’s goals, and that’s just as rewarding to me as any match I ever had.”
