The final segment of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden featured World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns sharing the spotlight with 2026 NBA Finals MVP and NBA Champion Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks.
Brunson received a special video package narrated by Super Bowl-winning former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who dubbed him the “King of New York.” The Knicks star then made his own entrance complete with a unique ring introduction. On his way to the ring, Brunson paused to acknowledge a photo of Danhausen, earning a reaction from the crowd.
Backstage, Brunson was greeted with applause from several people, including fellow Knicks standout Karl-Anthony Towns. Earlier in the evening, Towns had appeared during Danhausen’s match to help neutralize Dominik Mysterio, allowing Danhausen to defeat JD McDonagh.
Roman Reigns met Brunson at the entranceway, and the two walked to the ring together. Reigns praised Brunson’s accomplishments, noting that while championships are won as a team, there is only one Original Tribal Chief and only one MVP. He then presented Brunson with a custom New York Knicks-themed WWE World Heavyweight Championship before asking the Madison Square Garden crowd to acknowledge them both.
The celebration was interrupted when Seth Rollins’ entrance music hit. However, it was Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton who emerged first, carrying a steel chair. Moments later, Rollins appeared and blindsided Reigns from behind.
As Rollins prepared to deliver a Stomp, he warned Brunson to stay out of the way. Instead, Brunson stepped between Rollins and Reigns, buying the champion enough time to recover. Reigns capitalized on the distraction by blasting Rollins with a Superman Punch, sending the challenger retreating as the segment came to a close.
The NBA Finals trophy was then brought into the ring. Reigns put both title belts on Brunson while he held up the trophy.
WWE brought a star-studded crowd to Madison Square Garden in New York City for Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18.
