‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper and his family were the subject of death threats before his death in 2015, the WWE Hall of Famer’s daughter has shared.
Piper, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, died on July 31, 2015 of cardiac arrest caused by hypertension. He was 61 years old.
On a recent edition of the “Monte & The Pharaoh” podcast, Teal Piper, one of Roddy’s four children, recalled the threats made to her father and the family. She said,
“I have this distinct memory of him having a stalker when I was in I want to say maybe middle schoolish. And this guy’s name kept coming up.
“My mom was dropping me off at the bus stop and there’s this sign on the gate with like these weird death threats that somebody had put inside our private property and we lived in the middle of nowhere.”
Teal recalled another time when she woke to find strange men in her house, resulting in her mother taking Teal and the kids to live with Teal’s grandparents for a week.
Another incident saw a bomb placed in Roddy’s car and, despite hopes that this could be traced to the vandal, nothing was found. She said,
“He gets home, he parks and got maybe 10 feet out of his car and the whole car exploded. When they investigated it, the only information we got is that there was a tracker on it that had to be tracked within like 5 miles of the car and that something under the driver’s seat exploded and ignited the car.”
