Rockstar Spud’s homecoming to Birmingham ended in triumph for the former WWE Superstar with a bloody victory over Sha Samuels.
Inside the O2 Arena, Spud and Samuels, a WWE NXT UK alum and former Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion, headlined the PROGRESS Wrestling event.
The match was Spud’s second in five years and his first time competing inside Birmingham’s O2 Arena in over a decade.
Spud was busted open during the match following some stiff shots by Samuels, and the ‘East End Butcher’ had a significant size advantage.
Despite this, Spud fought back, including back-dropping Samuels on the steel ramp and diving off a speaker off the stage onto Samuels shortly after.
Following his victory, Spud was applauded in the ring by fans, and the rest of the roster came out to applaud his victorious homecoming.
The September 13 event marked the final leg of PROGRESS’ Odyssey tour, which had hosted events in Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Bournemouth.
Spud is known for his time with TNA Wrestling and WWE. In the latter company, he worked as Drake Maverick and is a former 24/7 Champion.
