On a recent edition of his “Off The Top” podcast, Rikishi shared his take on fans being smarter about the business now than in the past. He said,
“The fans are no more [like] the older fans back in the day, where you’re kayfabe, where you protect the business. The fans nowadays are smart and if you feel for one moment or you try to treat them like they’re not, insult their intelligence, you got something else coming.”
Rikishi gave the recent negative reaction to Hulk Hogan as an example, saying fans know more about the Hulkster now than ever before.
While fans in the past may have blindly cheered Hogan, fans know about the Hulkster’s controversies both in and out of the ring.
Rikishi compared this to The Undertaker, who he argued has always been more respectful in how he does business and is a “normal, good human being.”
