On a recent edition of his “Off The Top” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi weighed in on the recent arrival of JC Mateo as part of the Bloodline. He said,

“Is it just me, or is he just stocky like Taz back in the day? He’s got such big shoulders man it just looks like he don’t got a neck.”

Rikishi then spoke about Mateo’s arrival in WWE after years of establishing himself out of the promotion under the name Jeff Cobb. He said,

“What he has learned and went through with the independent circuit, dealing with a lot of promoters, dealing with his own business as far as how to negotiate deals…I’m sure he was ready by the time he came to WWE, and to be able to have that financial security, whether he works in a work or doesn’t in a month, he still gets a weekly paycheck.”

Mateo debuted in WWE at the Backlash: St Louis pay-per-view event, where he assisted Jacob Fatu in his U.S. Title victory in a fatal four-way match.

Mateo’s new ring name was introduced during the following episode of WWE SmackDown. Though part of The Bloodline, he has shown being at odds with Fatu.
