Report – WWE Perplexed By Tony Khan’s Booking Of Persephone

Persephone’s early run in AEW has already become a talking point, and not just among fans. According to a report from Bryan Alvarez, there are people within WWE who are questioning how Tony Khan has handled the reigning CMLL Women’s Champion since she arrived in the promotion.

Despite holding one of CMLL’s top women’s titles, Persephone has yet to gain consistent momentum in AEW. Her latest setback came on the July 29 edition of AEW Dynamite, where she unsuccessfully challenged Maya World for the TBS Championship. The loss continued a pattern of sporadic appearances that have largely ended in defeat.

Speaking on the July 30 edition of “Wrestling Observer Live,” Alvarez said WWE officials have been left scratching their heads over AEW’s booking of Persephone. He said,

“I have heard from many people in WWE who are just baffled at Tony’s usage of Persephone. They’re just like, ‘What’s this guy doing?’”

“She’s got so much potential. If her deal comes due, WWE’s gonna want her instantly. Meanwhile, all she does is show up on TV and do jobs as the CMLL Women’s Champion.”
