WWE seems to already have an idea of who will challenge Roman Reigns at the historic RAW event set for September 14 in Mexico City.

The company recently announced a special tournament bringing together stars from RAW, SmackDown and AAA, all competing for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. This cross-promotional angle came together after Rey Mysterio approached Reigns backstage on the August 3 episode of RAW.

During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that El Grande Americano currently appears to be the favorite to win the bracket and earn the title match.

However, nothing has been locked in, and the plan could shift before the tournament wraps up.

Alvarez also questioned whether that outcome would even make sense, suggesting WWE should avoid having Reigns defeat El Grande Americano clean and instead lean toward some kind of screwy finish.

With the full list of participants still unannounced, fans will have to wait and see whether this direction actually plays out.
