Report – Philadelphia To Bid For WWE WrestleMania Return

The Philadelphia Business Journal is reporting that Philadelphia tourism officials plan to request WWE to bring WrestleMania to the city following the success of WrestleMania 40, the two-night event, which was broadcast live on Peacock, and took place earlier this month at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA.

PHL Sports Division Executive Director Larry Needle spoke about the city’s desire to host WrestleMania again. He said,

“This is such a highly-coveted event that we know there’s a long line of cities clamoring to host, and that’s just the reality of an event of this magnitude. But needless to say, we would be thrilled to have WrestleMania back, and at the right time we will engage in those conversations with the WWE.”

It’s no surprise that Philadelphia wants WWE to bring the show back soon after WrestleMania 40, which broke the all-time gate record set by WrestleMania 32. The event had a combined attendance of 145,420 and generated a revenue of about $200 million for the host city.

While WWE has not yet announced the details for where next year’s event will be held, the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota is heavily rumored to be the frontrunner for WrestleMania 41.
