Nick Aldis’ return to in-ring competition at WWE SummerSlam 2026 may not have been a one-off appearance.
The SmackDown General Manager stepped back between the ropes for his first WWE match at SummerSlam 2026, challenging GUNTHER on night one of the pay-per-view event. Although Aldis came up short against the World Heavyweight Champion, a new report indicates that WWE could have additional matches planned for the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.
According to a report from WrestleVotes, there is an internal belief within WWE that Aldis will wrestle again for the company. However, one source cautioned that fans may have to wait, as his next match is not currently expected to take place until sometime next year.
The report also states that several people backstage view Aldis as being every bit as talented as many of WWE’s current television performers — if not more so — and would like to see him receive a meaningful in-ring run rather than making only occasional appearances.
Aldis has served as the on-screen General Manager of SmackDown since making his WWE television debut in October 2023. In addition to his authority figure role, he also works behind the scenes as a producer for the company.
